Northshore Management Company

Northshore Management Company (“NMC”) was formally created in 2003 as a family office. The company was built to address the needs and opportunities presented to its founder and his family. Over time NMC has built an infrastructure to manage those needs and expand its opportunities. As part of its focus, NMC has invested in numerous privately held companies and has developed public investment strategies that have been deployed and managed internally.

Over the years, many people have asked us if there is any significance in the name Northshore. In the past, the Northshore of Chicago or Boston was most often assumed as the location used to reference our name. Since 2006, most have assumed that NMC was named after Northshore Drive, which is conveniently the street where our office building resides. Strangely, neither circumstance describes the origin of the name. Rather, our name comes from a moment spent on the Northshore of St. John in the US Virgin Islands.

More specifically, Northshore describes not just a place, but a feeling, an attitude, and the achievement of a goal. In the years preceding NMC our family traveled frequently to St. John, USVI. During one of our trips, we reflected on our good fortune and the opportunities we had in front of us. Our discussion led us to conclude that everyone has a Northshore: a place, a feeling, a lifestyle, or goal unique to them and their family. For our family, the beaches of St. John captured the true essence of our Northshore.

NMC was built to address the needs of the founder and his family. Even though it has grown, evolved and become more noticeable, the company maintains the core values that led to its initial founding. Hard work, discipline, attention to detail and a commitment to preserving wealth are the cornerstones of the firm. Those principles have led us to reach our Northshore. Here’s hoping you find yours!
